Job Title: International Student Services Coordinator

Department: Office of Admissions

Reports To: Dean of Admissions

Job Type: This is a full time, exempt position.


General Statement of Job
The International Student Services Coordinator will oversee the international student services processes, systems, and advisement in consultation with the Dean of Admissions. Provide management of the daily operations of the International Student Services functions at and work closely with students who have high level visa and immigration questions. Assist with interpreting and applying federal regulations regarding international students. Develop and train staff and student workers, and provide excellent customer service for international students.

Provide management and oversight of student records. Assist with the coordination and facilitation of international student orientation. Work collaboratively with the Dean and others across campus as deemed necessary to map, revise, and refine processes in an effort to assess and improve service and delivery across multiple channels. Maintain and develop international student forms, workshops and web content for international students. Oversee the international student communication plan and disperse international student information to the campus community. Serve as a resource to other departments to assure that international students receive effective services.

Regularly maintain student information held in the federal government database (SEVIS) and determine student eligibility for new and updated I-20 documents for a variety of status maintenance issues including but not limited to initial attendance, updated program of study, financial support, work authorization before and after graduation, travel, authorized under-enrollment, academic suspension, and program completion.

Essential Duties:
Serve as a Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) for immigration and Homeland Security responsibilities on behalf of the University, in compliance with federal law. Including updating the I-17 for recertification.

Provide leadership for planning, implementing, maintaining, documenting, and evaluating international student services; develops operational policies, manuals, guides and other material necessary for efficient and effective administration.

Serve as liaison to student advising, student activities, career services, registration, financial aid, bursar office, and other offices to assure that students receive effective services, and that procedures and events are implemented professionally.
Responsible for developing and implementing international orientation including student pick-up, information sessions, etc.

Oversee international student insurance process and act as university liaison with insurance company.

Promotes the department on the various campuses by developing positive relationships with campus administration and staff

Serve as primary contact in the event of a status violation and lead reinstatement processes as needed.

Maintain records according to requirements and needs University, and Student Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP).

Develop and utilize reports exported from SharePoint, TargetX, and SEVIS to track international student enrollment and status maintenance. Use reports effectively to confirm student information and facilitate mass communication efforts.

Serve as primary contact for ICE agents, CBP officers, SEVP Representative, including facilitating and leading any visits
Ensure that graduated students on Optional Practical Training receive communication and data maintenance per federal regulations.
Manage the SEVIS Registration process to account for student enrollment and on campus presence at the beginning of each semester
Assists the Coordinator of International Admissions and Recruitment with the development of an effective annual international recruitment plan.
Manage the daily advising and support of international students by implementing an international communication plan.
Provides feedback, analysis and a level of international expertise to the admissions office on international education.
Answers emails, telephone calls, on-line inquiries and walk-in questions concerning international student inquiries, student services related matters, policies, and procedures.
Approves and generates and sends I-20 documents for IEP only students, degree seeking undergraduate and graduate students as well as students conditionally admitted for study in the Intensive English Program. Students advised include new initial, current, and graduated international students participating in Optional Practical Training.

Makes final decisions by reviewing and determining student eligibility for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training (OPT), including the evaluation of I-983 agreements in support of OPT STEM applications.

Serve as a primary contact to the students to advise non-immigrant international students on legal, cultural, academic, and personal concerns, particularly in relation to the F-1 visa type.

Independently evaluates and Investigates regulation requirements and updates by communicating directly with the federal government, particularly the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP).

Oversees all international programming such as Friendship Families and acts as an advisor to international student organizations.
Performs other related duties as required by the Dean of Admissions and university leadership.
