Job Summary:
The Senior Director of Marketing leads development, monitoring and evaluation of integrated and evidence based marketing plans and strategies that drive institutional enrollment growth and expand the college’s national footprint. The Senior Director reports to and takes direction from the Vice President of EM&M and ensures that all marketing expenditures are synthesized and optimized to support and drive enrollment goals set by the EM&M. The Senior Director provides fiscal accountability for expenditures in excess of $7 million, and leads a staff of 20 FTE positions that manage content and direct marketing initiatives; business development and partnerships; web and SEO activities; and marketing intelligence. In addition to internal oversight, the director oversees contractual arrangements with third party vendors and an Agency of Record that handles creative and media placement of mass awareness tactics and digital tactics. The senior director is responsible for synthesizing all aspects of marketing expenditures, messages and activities to garner market share and drive measurable ROI. The Senior Director also oversees the Mail, Imaging, and Print Services department.
  • Meets, liaises and maintains a working relationship with Enrollment and Marketing directors, college peers and faculty.
  • Initiates contractual commitments generated by Columbia College Marketing in accordance with college protocol and policy.
  • Maintains regular communication with the Associate Vice President of CC Global & Online, Associate Vice President of CC Military, Provost and other senior administrators as needed.
  • Sets protocol, process and reporting requirements to synthesize all marketing activities and evaluation.
  • Convenes regular management and staff meetings.
  • Ensures sound and transparent fiscal accountability and stewardship and oversees processes for acquiring data to support metrics and ascertainment of ROI.
  • Brings forward intellectual capital for enhancing the vision, mission and goals of the college respective to marketing support.
  • Attends and participates in professional marketing and higher education meetings and conferences to research marketing best practices, develop professional relationships with other higher education marketers and stay current with marketing trends.
  • Reviews and approves strategies, work flows, progress reports, metrics and analysis, as well as research produced by marketing staff.
  • Provides leadership and an example for the staff of civility, courtesy, inquiry, strategy, reliability and work ethic to produce goal-oriented results.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Proficiency for using a variety of computer and technology-related software and equipment, including Microsoft Office products and database systems.
  • Proficiency in using web-based technologies, including database systems.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, with or without direct supervision.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in management in a marketing function.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Sound level of financial management.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree
