Applications are open for the Assistant Director position at Columbia College Kansas City, with a start date of early August. See below job description:

Job Summary: The Assistant Director will assist the Director in the day to day operations at the location. In the director’s absence, is able to assume the duties of the director, provide guidance to the staff, and respond to requirements outlined by the Columbia College Global division.

Essential Functions:

• Manage daily administrative operations and supervise administrative support staff. Ensure that team members have access to all forms, supplies, policies, procedures, resources, and computer systems needed to perform all tasks successfully.
• Assist in the planning and preparation of session schedules, annual schedule, and classroom/computer lab scheduling.
• Monitor student progress for the students within the academic advising load assigned, and provide sound academic advice to students based on their curriculum requirements and classes they need to complete their degree. Ensure adequate student advising is offered, to include degree declaration, course selection, class load management, satisfactory academic progress, financial aid options, military and veteran funding/VA issues, and other areas of academic and student support. Ensure students are aware of all other Columbia College student services which are available including counseling, career development, and support for accommodations.
• Ensure new business alliances are established within the community with the goal of creating a pipeline of students from these corporations. Contact Human Resource Managers and key leaders in order to arrange recruiting and marketing opportunities. Work with the Director of Business Partnerships to coordinate activities as they relate to business alliances.
• Assist the Director with creating and implementing marketing and advertising plans as well as any public relation goals.
• Assist director in planning and executing annual budget.
• Ensure effective initial and ongoing training for all faculty appropriate for their role, responsibilities, individual needs, and desired outcomes. This includes both coordination with and engagement in the training team’s efforts and location-specific training.
• Serve as primary point of contact for facilities management issues related to housekeeping, maintenance, and building monitor supervision.
• Assist in remediation of problems with students, staff and faculty.

Required Core Competencies and Professional Experience:

• Proficiency with the following, but not limited to: active listening; public speaking; writing; critical thinking; judgment and decision making; monitoring; reading comprehension; time management; coordination; and management of personnel resources.
• Proficiency for using a variety of computer and technology-related software and equipment, including Microsoft Office products and database systems.
• Proficiency in using web-based technologies, including database systems.
• Experience in Higher Education.

Preferred Core Competencies and Professional Experience:

• Experience with adult learners.
• Experience in academic advising/counseling.
• Experience in marketing, recruiting, and outreach activities related to college admissions process.

Required Level of Education: Master’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
