Job Title: Regional Admissions Counselor
Department: Office of Admissions
Reports To: Assistant Dean of Admissions
Job Type: This is a full time, exempt position.
General Statement of Job
The Regional Admissions Counselor plans, initiates, executes and evaluates programs for recruitment and admission of transfer students. This position provides guidance and approval for students seeking admissions into the University and has an office on Crowder’s main campus in Neosho where the reside 2-3 days per week.
Essential Duties:
Travels by automobile to area community colleges to meet with prospective students, parents and counselors.
Represents Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) at college day and night fairs.
Manages assigned recruitment territory by using computer databases of student records.
Makes contact with potential students each week throughout the recruitment cycle.
Works cooperatively with the Registrar’s Office in developing Transfer Equivalency Guides with other colleges/universities and posts them on the MSSU Admissions web site.
Helps organize, set-up and participate in receptions and special events designed to attract new students.
Conducts interviews and tours of campus for prospective students.
Conducts unofficial evaluations of transcripts.
Counsels students regarding academic questions and options.
Assists students with the admission transfer process.
Advises students concerning degree requirements.
Assists the Admissions Office with daily duties related to recruitment and admission of all categories of students.
Works cooperatively with the Admission Publication Coordinator and University Relations/Marketing to update admission publications, posters and flyers.
Serves on university committees as designated.
Performs other related duties as required. |
