Graduate Studies Student Services Coordinator

The Graduate Studies Student Services Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of initiatives and strategies that facilitate and support graduate student success, curricular and co-curricular. Including holistic, equitable, and proactive initiatives/strategies that focus on helping graduate students learn, understand, and navigate graduate-level university processes, policies, and protocols. This position analyzes data, identifies barriers, and recommends initiatives to improve student success and degree completion. This position will serve as an academic advisor for all non-degree-seeking graduate students, and serve as an academic resource for all graduate students. The Student Services Coordinator will thoroughly understand the registration process, grading system, degree audits, and academic policies and procedures.

This position will introduce graduate students to a full range of resources available at UCM that will enable them to be successful and persist to degree completion. Assist graduate students with identifying obstacles, or potential obstacles to enrollment, such as registration, prerequisite issues, course availability, etc., and help students to identify options to overcome and/or resolve the issue. Develop and present workshops and training designed to help students successfully transition into and through the University environment and chart their academic progress. Provide comprehensive and compelling advising and student support services to students who are not making satisfactory academic progress; develop individualized academic recovery plans to facilitate getting a student back on track. Serve as a referral agent to other areas of student support and/or resources, and effectively manage by performing follow-ups to the referrals. Instruct and assist students with learning and using the technological platforms used in student success at UCM such as MyCentral, Blackboard Learning Management System, Degree Audit System, UCM website, student email, etc. Develop and disseminate advising materials to inform stakeholders about programs, policies, protocols, resources, opportunities, and activities focused on graduate student success. Will work in collaboration with graduate program coordinators and department chairs.

This is a full-time benefits-eligible position.
