The MACRAO Government Relations Committee wanted to check in with you as we approach the upcoming Missouri General Assembly session opening on January 8, 2025. First, we would like to introduce the MACRAO Government Relations team for the upcoming year. This group will track the bills and issues that may be of interest to the MACRAO membership. We will send out emails periodically throughout the legislative session to keep you informed about what is being discussed. If you see additional articles or information that you think would be of interest to MACRAO, we welcome you to share them with a member of this group. Additionally, the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development (DHEWD) offers legislative updates each week while the General Assembly is in session. Those can be accessed at the following website. It includes a sign-up option to receive these updates via email.

Legislative bill pre-file begins on December 1. In mid-January, our subcommittee will provide you a preview of the higher-education bills that have been pre-filed at that point.

Additionally, AACRAO’s Government Relations team is offering a new quarterly Fireside Chat webinar. The first session will provide insight into the higher education public policy topics discussed in Washington, DC, within the new administration and what the election results could mean for the sector. This will be held on Wednesday, December 18 from 1:00-2:00 PM CST.
